PLEASE CORRECT PUNCTUATION ONLY. THANK YOU!

Re: Evans vs. Brown

I tried to call you about the above case but learned that you were out of town, and will not return until Wednesday. You wrote to me on June 1 to ask what authority I had or could get to settle this case, and we discussed the matter on June 3. I have discussed the matter with my client, and I now have authority to offer $28,500 to settle the case. Hopefully, we are now in a position to effect final disposition of this case. My file indicates that $1703 of the plaintiff’s medical expenses were paid by Hines Casualty Company.

You indicated that you may want to go to Louisiana to take the defendant’s deposition, and I will be happy to exceed. I shall not go, but I will arrange for local council to appear at the deposition.

I note we have several cases set for trial, but this case is not on the list. If we are unable to effect the settlement, I hope we can get the case on the trail docket by at least October or November.

above case, but,

remove comma after "town"

Also --

"happy to exceed" = ????

"council" (counsel?)

"trail" (trial?)

No comma is needed after "case" because there is no subject after the conjunction, "but"

Thank you for your help....

A little confused? So there should NOT be a comma after "but" and NO comma after "town" --- is that correct?

NO COMMA before or after "but"
