n = the number
n - 2 = subtract 2 from the number
2(n - 2) = double the difference
2(n - 2) + 7 = then add 7
2(n - 2) + 7 = 57
2n - 4 + 7 = 57
2n + 3 = 57
2n = 54
n = 27
The number is 27
