Simple. Just get x to stand alone.

20x=5-3 Subtract 3 from both sides.

20x=2

x=2/20 Divide 20 on both sides.

x=1/10 Simplify.

I'll show you how to do these problems so that you'll learn how to do the rest of your problems

20x+3=5

Subtract 3 from both sides of the equation.

20x = 2

Divide both sides by 20

x = 2/20

x = 1/10

________________________________

4-x=9

Add x to both sides.

5 = 9 + x

Subtract 9 from both sides.

4-9 = x

-5 = x
