88 = Rate of Train B
T = Time of Train B
88T = Distance of Train B
80 = Rate of Train A
T + .5 = Time of Train A (8:40 - 8:10 = 30 min = .5 h)
80(T + .5) = Distance of Train A
Since distances are equal
80(T + .5) = 88T
80T + 40 = 88T
8T = 40
T = 5
Train B will catch up to A in 5 hrs
I'll let you calculate what time train B will catch up to train A.
