88 = Rate of Train B

T = Time of Train B

88T = Distance of Train B

80 = Rate of Train A

T + .5 = Time of Train A (8:40 - 8:10 = 30 min = .5 h)

80(T + .5) = Distance of Train A

Since distances are equal

80(T + .5) = 88T

80T + 40 = 88T

8T = 40

T = 5

Train B will catch up to A in 5 hrs

I'll let you calculate what time train B will catch up to train A.
