I'm taking the medical terminology course and I'm at the part of the course that is working with ICD 9 CM codes. I'm in Chapter 2 of the Medical & Dental Associates, P.C. Insurance Forms Preparation work book and now I'm trying to do the exercises but I can't find the coding manual they mention to put the correct code in. I did find some of the answers in the study guide under the Appendix but it doesn't have all the codes I need. Is that where I'm suppose to find the answers or is there another place to find them. Can someone tell me where to look for the manual. Thanks!

I suggest you ask your instructor.

To find the appropriate coding manual for ICD-9-CM codes, you can follow these steps:

1. Start by identifying the coding manual you need. For ICD-9-CM codes, you specifically require the ICD-9-CM code book.

2. Check if you have any resources provided to you by your course or institution. They might have given you access to an online version of the ICD-9-CM code book or provided you with specific instructions on where to find it.

3. If you do not have any specific resources provided, you can consider purchasing an ICD-9-CM code book. They are commonly available in bookstores or online. You can check with local medical bookstores or popular online retailers like Amazon.

4. When purchasing the ICD-9-CM code book, make sure it is the most recent version available, as codes can change over time. Double-check that it specifically covers ICD-9-CM codes, as there are different code systems for different purposes.

5. Once you have obtained the ICD-9-CM code book, you can use it to look up the correct codes for the exercises in your workbook. The code book will provide you with the necessary guidelines and instructions to accurately assign codes for various medical conditions and procedures.

Remember, the ICD-9-CM code book is an essential tool for medical coding and is usually specific to the relevant year or edition. It's important to ensure you have the correct version to avoid errors in coding.
