Homework Help: math

this is how i worked it out and i keep gettin a decimal:
4x+(9-3x)=8x-1
4x+9-3x=8x-1
3x
1x-9=8x-1
-1x
-9=7x-1
(-9)
7x=8
1.1428571

4x + (9 - 3x)= 8x - 1
1x + 9 = 8x - 1
-7x = -10
x = 10/7
x = 1.43
