Write an equation in slope intercept form of the line that passes through (4, 1) and (5, -1).

m = (-1 - 1) / (5 - 4) = -2 / 1 = -2.

Y = mX + b.

Y = -2*4 + b = 1,

-8 + b = 1,

b = 1+ 8 = 9.

Eq: Y = -2X + 9.
