Homework Help: pre algebra

in vanessas coin bank there are 4 times as many quarters as nickels, 2 fewer dimes than nickles and 15 pennies.the total amount in the bank is 5.80. how many of each coin are in the bank

I believe the amount in the bank should be 5.70. If not, check and make sure all INFO is correct.

Nickels = X,
Qtrs = 4X,
Dimes = (X - 2),
Pennies = 15.

5X + 25*(4X)+ 10(X - 2)+ 15 = 570.

5X + 100X + 10X - 20 + 15 = 570,
115X - 5 = 570,
115X = 575,
X = 575 / 115 = 5.

Nickels = X = 5.
Quarters = 4x = 4*5 = 20,
Dimes = X - 2 = 5 - 2 = 3,
Pennies = 15
