Homework Help: Poetry

So this is just to double check to make sure all of these figures of speech are right.

METAPHORS- thunder roared and shot crackling spears, as vicious hills unfolded, piercing wind howled in my ears, thunder crackled and exploded, and shot blinding flashes, hostile wind took my breath away, and showered ice cold rain drops, the coolness stung my face, my lungs were burning, my heart hammered in my chest, my legs were made of jelly,fatigue caught up and told me to walk,

PERSONIFICATION- streets grew empty, a rainbow smiled at me and told me to keep on running.

Those are all of the figures of speech that i could find in the following poem, did i miss any?

The sky got dark and clouds rumbled,
streets grew empty and the living retreated.
The scent of rain was in the air
-now turning crisp and cool-
thunder roared and shot crackling spears
the air was chilly and my breath was cold
but my body warmed,
as I kept on running.

I struggled for breath
as vicious hills unfolded.
The piercing wind howled in my ears ,
thunder crackled and exploded
and shot blinding flashes
but still, I continued running.

A hostile wind took my breath away
and showered ice cold rain drops.
An icy downpour soaked my body
and the coolness stung my face.
My lungs were burning and
my heart hammered in my chest
as I continued running.

My legs were weak and made of jelly
and each breath evaporated into mist
Fatigue caught up and told me to walk
but I danced in the rain and laughed in the wind -
and then I continued running.
Fog formed and the ground turned to frost
and crunched beneath my feet.

The clouds opened and the sun shone through
and reached me with its rays.
The ice melted and the grass turned green.
A rainbow formed and smiled at me -
and told me to keep on running.

Please explain how you reached the conclusion you did about each metaphor and instance of personification?

Good lord, that would take forever! but as long as your willing to help..

Metaphors...
thunder roared and shot crackling spears, =thunder cant actually shoot crackling spears or roar like a tiger

as vicious hills unfolded, =hills cant unfold

piercing wind howled in my ears,=wind cant howl

thunder crackled and exploded, =thunder cant crackle or explode?

and shot blinding flashes, =it cant shoot blinding flashes

hostile wind took my breath away, =wind cant literally take your breath

and showered ice cold rain drops, =it cant shower ice cold rain drops?

the coolness stung my face, coldness cant actually sting u like a bee

my lungs were burning, =your lungs cant actually burn

my heart hammered in my chest, =its not like theres a legit hammer in ur chest

my legs were made of jelly,=clearly they arnt made of jelly

fatigue caught up and told me to walk, =fatigue cant talk to you

PERSONification...
streets grew empty, =the streets cant actually grow like humans
a rainbow smiled at me and told me to keep on running. = rainbows cant actually smile like humans

My question is this: What makes some of these metaphors and others personification? Examples:

~~thunder roared and shot crackling spears, =thunder cant actually shoot crackling spears or roar like a tiger

~~hostile wind took my breath away, =wind cant literally take your breath

I disagree with these:
~~and showered ice cold rain drops, =it cant shower ice cold rain drops? (HAVEN'T YOU EVER FELT RAIN THAT WAS AS COLD AS ICE -- JUST BEFORE IT TURNED TO SLEET?)

the coolness stung my face, coldness cant actually sting u like a bee
(HUMANS CANNOT STING EITHER; REMEMBER THAT PERSONIFICATION IS ASSIGNING HUMAN CHARACTERISTICS TO NON-HUMAN THINGS.)

my lungs were burning, =your lungs cant actually burn
(PERSONIFICATION??)

~~my heart hammered in my chest, =its not like theres a legit hammer in ur chest
(PERSONIFICATION??)

~~my legs were made of jelly,=clearly they arnt made of jelly
(PERSONIFICATION??)

Check them all. Make sure metaphors are in the metaphor list and true personification (human characteristics) are in the personification list.
