Homework Help: English

We cooked a big turkey. Dad cooked the turkey this year. After 6 hours, the turkey was finally ready.

(Is each turkey a large bird or meat from a turkey in the sentence?)

In the first two places in those sentences, "the turkey" refers to the large bird. The last one could refer to either, but is probably referring to the meat.
