a dog toy is constructed in the shape of a cylinder with a length of 6.8 in. The cylinder has a hemisphere at each end. The diameter is 1-9 in. Find the volume.

1-9 is not a diameter. You probably made a typing error.

The volume will be pi[R^2*L + (4R^3)/3]

Get the radius R from the diameter.
