Please help me with this assignment that I have to explain t o class tomorrow. I am confused and don't know where to start. I have to use "SmartArt" to make graphic organizer.I picked chart and my topic is speech. The chart/graphic that I am going to make has to be detailed, and at least 3 level, at least 4 subtopics, etc.

How can I start this and tell the class how to can organizer their speech using chart? Thank you for your help!

The type of graphic organizer you use depends on your topic. Are you comparing/contrasting? Explaining cause and effect? Describing a process? What?

To start explaining how to use a SmartArt graphic organizer to organize a speech, you can follow these steps:

1. Introduce the purpose of using a chart for organizing a speech: Explain that organizing your speech using a chart or graphic organizer can help you structure your thoughts, provide a visual representation of your ideas, and ensure that your speech flows logically.

2. Discuss the selection of SmartArt: Mention that SmartArt is a feature available in Microsoft Office applications, such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, that allows you to create professional-looking charts and graphics. Explain that you have chosen the "chart" option within SmartArt for your speech organization.

3. Explain the levels and subtopics required: Mention that your chart/graphic organizer needs to be detailed with at least three levels and four subtopics. Levels refer to the hierarchy or main points of your speech, while subtopics are the supporting ideas or sub-points within each main point.

4. Describe the steps of creating a SmartArt graphic organizer:

a. Open the Microsoft Office application of your choice (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint or Word) and create a new document or slide.

b. Click on the "Insert" tab in the toolbar and select the "SmartArt" option. This will open the SmartArt Graphic dialog box.

c. In the SmartArt Graphic dialog box, choose the "Hierarchy" category (since you want to create a chart with levels) and select a suitable layout or design that appeals to you.

d. Once you've selected a layout, click on the "OK" button, and a blank SmartArt graphic will be inserted into your document.

e. Starting from the main level, enter the title or main point of your speech in the text box provided. This will serve as the highest level in your chart.

f. To add subtopics, move to the next level in the SmartArt graphic by pressing the "Enter" key or using the arrow keys. Enter the supporting ideas or sub-points related to your main point in the text box provided.

g. Continue adding levels and subtopics as necessary, making sure that each level connects logically to the one above it.

5. Offer tips for organizing the speech content: Suggest that as students organize their speech using the chart, they should consider the following:

a. Start with a clear introduction at the highest level of the chart, followed by main points and sub-points.

b. Ensure that each subtopic or sub-point supports the main point above it.

c. Use consistent formatting, such as font size and hierarchical structure, to make the chart easily understandable and visually appealing.

d. Consider using colors, shapes, or other SmartArt customization options to enhance the visual representation of the speech.

6. Provide an example of a completed speech chart using SmartArt: Show a completed example chart to the class, explaining how the levels and subtopics are organized and interconnected.

Remember to tailor your explanation to fit your specific preferences and the software you'll be using. Good luck with your assignment and presentation!
