A researches has collected data to investigate a research problem regarding the association between the increase of triglyceride level and the increase of weight as the result of an intervention. Although the normal triglyceride level is below 150, the researcher collected data from a variety of patients. However a colleague suggested that the researcher would possible bias the analyses parameter estimates because his sample was biased. This bias was focused on the fact of the sample's initial triglyceride level. The colleague hypothesized that the sample's initial triglyceride level was statisticall significantly above normal at p <.05.
