First, how do you know this is a limiting reagent problem. Because BOTH reactants are given.

1. You have the equation.
2. You have1.25 moles N2 in the problem.
3. Convert 50.0 g oxygen to moles. moles = grams/molar mass.
4. Using the coefficients in the balanced equation, convert moles N2 to moles NO2.
5. Same process, convert moles oxygen to moles NO2.
6. It is likely that the answers from 4 and 5 will not agree which means one of them is wrong. The correct answer in limiting reagent problems is ALWAYS the smaller value and the reagent responsible for that number is the limiting reagent.
7. Convert the smaller value from 6 to grams. g = moles x molar mass.
