i need 2 lewis dot structures for C3H8O. thanks

I didn't find a full Lewis dot structure but close. Just use electrons instead of the "stick" bonds and add the electrons around the O atoms. Structures start on page 6 but the item you want is on page 17.

To draw Lewis dot structures for C3H8O, we first need to determine the total number of valence electrons in the molecule.

For carbon (C), there are 4 valence electrons.
For hydrogen (H), there is 1 valence electron.
For oxygen (O), there are 6 valence electrons.

Since we have three carbon atoms (C3), eight hydrogen atoms (H8), and one oxygen atom (O), the total number of valence electrons is:

(3 * 4) + (8 * 1) + 6 = 30 electrons

Now let's draw the Lewis dot structures:

Structure 1:
Start by connecting the carbon atoms with the oxygen atom using single bonds:

C C C
\ | /
O

Now, distribute the remaining electrons around the atoms. Each hydrogen atom needs 2 electrons (a single bond), and each carbon atom needs 8 electrons (octet rule). Oxygen has 6 valence electrons, so it also follows the octet rule.

H H H H H H H H
| | | | | | | |
C C C
\ | /
O

Now, assign remaining electrons to the central atoms:

H H H H H H H H
| | | | | | | |
C C C
/ \ | / \
H H H O

This is one possible Lewis dot structure for C3H8O.

Structure 2:
Let's rearrange the atoms and bonds to create another Lewis dot structure:

H H H H H H H H
| | | | | | | |
O C C
|
C

Again, distribute the remaining electrons around the atoms:

H H H H H H H H
| | | | | | | |
O C C
|
C

This is another possible Lewis dot structure for C3H8O.

Remember that these structures are just representations of bonding and electron distribution. The actual shape and orientation of the molecule in 3D space may vary.
