Please help me :(
Briefly explain the following scenario's using Newton's first law.
a) Trevor wants to tow Kevin's car with his truck. He attached a small tow rope between the vehicles and leaves the rope slack (loose). Trevor quickly accelerates forwards making the rope tight causing it to stop.
b) While a car was coming to a stop, a package on the seat slid off and landed on the floor.
:(( help me please. I really don't get this at all.
A certain force made one mass accelerate at 6.3 m/s^2. What acceleration would this force give to three masses attached together?
a) The inertia of the second (towed) car makes it "tend to remain at rest". So the rope tightens and it prevents the towing car from pulling it.
b) The object on the seat tends to maintain its velocity forward even as the car stops. ("Objects in motion tend to remain in motion")
c) Since F = M a, if you keep the same force F and triple the mass M, the acceleration becomes 1/3 of the former amount, or 2.1 m/s^2.
