Inputs are just values of the domain that replace the x and compute the y value at that x point. for y= x^2 -9 inputs {-4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4} your associated outputs would be range {7, 0, -5, -8, -9, -8, -5, 0, 7} This example is symmetric about the y axis.
