x= 3 y=8

x-y+3-8+2
=3+(-8)+2
=-5+2
=-3
Can someone explain to me why this is wrong? and help me correct it?

3-8+3-8+2

=-5+3-8+2
=-2-8+2
=-10+2
=-8

What about this one?

x=3 y= -8
x-(-4+y)=3-[-4+(-8)]
=3-(-12)
=3-12
=-9?

what are you solving for?

x and y.. i'm just supposed to describe the error and correct it

oh...

3-(-4+8)=3-[-4+(-8)]
3-(-12)
3+12
15=3-[-4+(-8)]
15=3+12
15=15

Thank you!
