Milli means one thousandth. What it means in millipede means one thousand.

The name of an insect 'millipede' does not follow SI (International System of Units) conventions because it's not a unit of measurement or a physical quantity. The SI conventions are established to provide consistency in the naming and usage of units for scientific measurements.

Millipede is the common name given to creatures that are part of the class Diplopoda, which are arthropods, not insects. The name 'millipede' describes their physical characteristics (having many legs), but it doesn't relate to any specific measurement or unit in the SI system.

To find this information in your text or other sources, you can try using keywords such as "SI conventions," "naming conventions," or "scientific terminology." You may also search for specific information on the class Diplopoda or arthropods. Online scientific resources, biology textbooks, or entomology references can provide accurate information about millipedes and their classification.
