i really stink at spanish...

Next time, if you would put your choices next to the item it corresponds to, it would make it much easier to check. My eyes do not scan up and down, up and down at all well!

For #2 "tú y yo" = you and I = we = b (ellos - they)

#3 = Ana y yo = Ann and I = we (F) (again you chose "they")

#4 = Ann, Marie and Joe = they = E

#5 tú y tú = you all = A

It may help you to first say the subjects outloud in English and then see what you would naturally say after that? you and I = we but you and you = you-all. At least you are seeing the difference between singular and plural.

#7 = Mario and I can NOT be singular (that's what you chose) = we = first person plural Does your textbook have a "chart" to show you?

yo = first person singular
tú = second person singular
él/ella/usted = third person singular

nosotros/nosostras = first person plural
vosotros/vosotras = second person plural
ellos/ellas/ustedes = third person plural

#8 = Mary and Joe = can NOT be singular (that's what you chose) = THEY = third person plural or B

When it comes to a regular -ar verb (levantar) either your textbook does not explain how a verb works, or your teacher did not? There is a pattern.

infinitive = levantar (all infinitives end in -ar, -er or -ir)
(yo) levanto (notice "o" for "yo")
(tú) levantas )notice the "s" is the cue for tú)
(él/ella/usted) levanta (for an -ar verb, the theme vowel is "a"_

(nosotros/nosotras) levantamos (the ending -amos is for nosotros/nosotras)
(vosotros/vosotras) levantáis (many textbooks do not even teach this form)
(ellos/ellas/ustedes) levantan (the ending -"n" signifies 3rd person plural

Now memorize the endings of a regular -ar verb (when you drop the infinitive ending of "ar") = o, as, a, amos, áis, an

#9 = levan tas = D

10 = levan to == D

11. = levanta = you got one!

12 = leva ntan = B

13 = levantamos = E (there is no such form as the last one, or F)

Here are more verbs so look above where I conjugated "levantar" for you. First of all you need to SEE the pattern, then MEMORIZE it. It would help to know what kind of learner you are.
visual = color code what you are missing with the bilious yellow, orange, green, etc. so it "sticks" in your memory

aural = you need to HEAR what you want to learn. Use a tape recorder, give the subject, a space (where you will fill in the answer orally) and then the right answer. Keep listening until it "sinks" in.

kinesthetic = the most difficult to learn but you will retain it longer once you do get it. You need to physically "walk" through it, or "trace" it. Use your imagination!

Many people are a combination of 2 of the 3 styles of learning, but once you know how to "attack" it, it will get easier.

14 = yo = hablo = D

15 = María = ella = habla = C

16. Joe and I = we = hablamos = A

17. Mary & Ann = ellas = hablan = F

18. ellas hablan = D

19. tú = hablas = E

20. usted = habla = you got one!

Now that you know the correct answers, you might fill them in. After that you can use this exercise as "programmed learning" which means, COVER the correct answer, slide down one at a time, guessing the correct answer, UNCOVERING and verifying and going to the next one. If you do all this, you will eventually get them all right!

Learning is first UNDERSTANDING what to do, TRYING, VERIFYING and REPEATING, REPEATING, REPEATING! Sorry, but there is no shortcut to learning well. Best of luck and we are here to explain what you don't understand. Happy to help you and I hope it will not make a lot more sense!

Buena suerte (good luck), Sra
