how to write this equation $45.00 is the total amount of money that i have to split. i need to buy meat one coast is 1.80 a pound and the other 1.00 per poung how can i write this equation to get the answer?

Are you spending all of your $45? If so,

Let x stand for meat at $1.80/lb. and y for $1.00lb.

x = 1.8y

1.8x + y = 45

Substitute 1.8y for x in the second equation and solve for x. Use x value in first equation to solve for y. Check by putting both values in the second equation.
