Write down eight blanks in a row, and label them, from right to left (weird, I know): ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands, millions. The digit in the thousands place is 5. Write it in that blank. Think what odd number is greater than 7 but less than 10 (since it has to be one digit). Write that number in the hundred thousands blank and in the hundreds blank. All the other blanks will get the same number, which is one less than the number you wrote in the thousands blank.
