we learned about objective and subjective opinions authors may have today and although I got every other question, I can't seem to figure out the following two:

tell the objective and subjective opinion in each statement and list if the subjective opinion is explicit or implicit.

1.The cause of this situation is the mayor’s irresponsible plan.
2.In my opinion, this officials decision to hire his realities should be treated as a crime.
3.In the past, officials who committed such outrageous acts were prosecuted.

(with 1 and 2 I couldn’t figure out the objective fact and with 3 I couldn’t figure out subjective opinion)

1. Does the mayor have a plan? If so, that's the objective fact; it's a fact, not an opinion. Now ... tell me about the word "irresponsible."

2. Do you mean "relatives"? What words refer to facts? Those are objective. What words indicate opinion? Those are subjective.

3. What are the facts? What is/are the opinion/opinions?

To determine the objective and subjective opinions in each statement, we need to analyze the language and context used.

1. "The cause of this situation is the mayor’s irresponsible plan."

- Objective opinion: The cause of this situation is the mayor's irresponsible plan.
- Subjective opinion: There is no explicit subjective opinion in this statement.

In this statement, the author presents the cause of the situation as the mayor's irresponsible plan. This is stated as a fact and not influenced by personal feelings or opinions.

2. "In my opinion, this official's decision to hire his relatives should be treated as a crime."

- Objective opinion: The official's decision to hire his relatives.
- Subjective opinion: This decision should be treated as a crime. (explicit)

In this statement, the author expresses their opinion, starting with "In my opinion." The objective opinion is the decision made by the official, while the subjective opinion is that the decision should be treated as a crime. The subjective opinion is explicit because it is directly stated.

3. "In the past, officials who committed such outrageous acts were prosecuted."

- Objective opinion: Officials who committed such outrageous acts were prosecuted.
- Subjective opinion: There is no explicit subjective opinion in this statement.

In this statement, there is no explicit subjective opinion stated. The author is providing information about the past actions of officials who committed outrageous acts being prosecuted.
