each of the following were suppose to be rounded to two sig figs. mark then correct or incorrect. if incorrect state the correct answer

1) 1.249 103 to 1.3 103

i know its wrong but i don't know the correct answer

2)7.999 102 to 80

its wrong and i thought it was 800. but they said check the number of sig figs.

3)0.009934 to 0.010

its wrong and i have no idea what the answer is

if you could help that would be great. thanks:)

look at these, and STUDY them. They are almost identical to yours.

1) The correct answer for rounding 1.249 × 10^3 to two significant figures would be 1.2 × 10^3. To do this, you would round the digit after the first significant figure (in this case, 4) to the nearest value. Since 4 is less than 5, the digit stays the same, and the following digits become zeros.

2) For rounding 7.999 × 10^2 to two significant figures, you need to consider the number of significant figures in the original number. Here, we have four significant figures. The correct answer would be 8.0 × 10^2. The zero after the 8 in the tenths place is significant because it helps indicate the precision of the measurement.

3) The number 0.009934 has four significant figures. When rounding to two significant figures, the correct answer would be 0.0099. The trailing zeros after the second significant figure are not counted as significant in this case since they are only placeholders.
