The only force acting on a satellite in its orbit around Earth is the force of gravity from Earth. Why does a satellite not fall down?

IT is falling, it just never hits the Earth. Its falling is just at the rate to keep in in circular orbit. If it weren't falling, it would continue in a straight path.
