Bill has 12 more than three times the number of baseball cards Chyris has. Bill has 42 cards more than Chris. How many baseball cards does Chris have?

Chris = X cards
Bill = 3X + 12 cards.
X + (3X +12) = (X + 42) + X
4X  2X = 42  12
2X = 30
X = 15 cards
