if the scale of a map is 1/4inches = 1 miles. the distance between two cities on the map is 3 1/4inches. what is the acutal distance ,in miles,between the two cities.

If Ľ" = 1 mile, then you need to ask yourself this question: How many Ľ-inches there are in 1 inch?

4, right?

Now multiply and then add.

Or you could set up a proportion. .25/1=x/3.25
