2x^2+5x-12=0

• algebra - Tony, Monday, July 12, 2010 at 7:46am

2x^2 + 5x - 12 = 0
2 X (-12) = -24 = 8 X (-3)
Therefore,
2x^2 + 8x - 3x - 12 = 0
2x(x - 4) - 3(x - 4) = 0
(x - 4)(2x - 3) = 0
x = 4, 3
