give exact and approximate solutions to three decimal places.

x^2+5x-7=0

You might get some help with at least some of the 17 problems you've just posted if you made any attempt to solve them yourself.

As it is, it looks like you want someone to do your homework for you.

made attempts, I can't remember how to solve them so it would be nice even for just clarification. thoughts that is what this was for. don't remember how to solve the ax^2+bx+c=0 amongst others. I have had a very hard time understanding this stuff. if you don't want to help don't. but you don't need to be rude. sorry I am not a genious in algebra, just need someone to explain it so I can understand things. thanks.

To find the solutions to the quadratic equation x^2 + 5x - 7 = 0, we can use the quadratic formula:

x = (-b ± √(b^2 - 4ac)) / (2a)

Here, a = 1, b = 5, and c = -7.

Substituting the values, we get:

x = (-5 ± √(5^2 - 4 * 1 * -7)) / (2 * 1)

Simplifying further:

x = (-5 ± √(25 + 28)) / 2

x = (-5 ± √53) / 2

Using a calculator, we can find the approximate solutions by evaluating the expression:

x ≈ (-5 + √53) / 2 ≈ 0.515

x ≈ (-5 - √53) / 2 ≈ -5.515

Hence, the exact solution is x = (-5 ± √53) / 2, and the approximate solutions, rounded to three decimal places, are x ≈ 0.515 and x ≈ -5.515.
