GOAL: Isolate the variable (x)
Multiply both sides by 24.
7x + 2 = 288
Subtract 2 fromboth sides.
7x = 286
Divide both sides by 7.
x = 40.9
The next question is the same, but instead you can just cross multiply.
x/3 = 224/720
720x = (224)(3)
720x = 672
x = 0.93
I read that as
7/24 = (x+2)/12
if so, then
24x + 48 = 84
24x = 36
x = 36/24 = 3/2
