In 2004 median earnings including commissions, for car salespersons was $18.61 per hour or $744.40 per week. Dan received $400 per week for selling new and used cars. In addition, he receives 5% of the profit on any sales he generates.
(a) write an equation that relates Dan's weekly salary S when he has sales that generate a profit of dollar x
(b) If Dan has sales that generates of profit of $4000, what are his weekly earnings?
(c)to equal the median earnings of a car salesperson, Dan would have to have sales that generate a profit of how many dollars?

a) S = .05(x) + 400 , where x is the amount of sales
b) sub in x = 4000
c) solve 744.40 = .05x + 400
