2x+1y=3740
You can use elimination to solve, which is where you multiply one or more equations to eliminate either the x's or y's.
Multiplying the top equation by negative 2 will cancel the x's.
-2x-4y=-5240
2x+1y=3740
Add the equations together.
-3y=-1500
Divide by negative 3.
y=500
Plug y=500 into any of the equations to figure out what x equals. Post if you want it checked.
