The equation y= 1777x + 27,153 can be used to predict the number of y of gun deaths in the U.S. x years after 2000, that is, x=0 corresponds to 2000, x=2 corresponds to 2002, x6 corresponds to 2006, and so. Predict the number of gun deaths in 2006 and 2007. In what year will the number of gun deaths be 11,160?

Algebra HELP
Reiny,
For "Predict the number of deaths in 2006 " sub in x=6 into the equation ...
y = 1777(6) = 27153 = 16491
for "Predict the number of deaths in 2007 " let x=7 and repeat as above
For " In what year will the number of gun deaths be 11,160?" set y = 11160 and solve for x ,
then add x to 2000
11160 = 1777x + 27153
1777x = 27153  11160
