If the distance from the moon to the Earth increased from 230,000 (which it is today) to 2,000,000 miles, what affect would this have on the tides?

effect is the right word.

The sun's affect on the tides would not effect a change in height, but the Moon, which is the predominate tidal factor, would affect the tides by the inverse of the change in gravity, that is 1/(2/.23)^2. So the effect would be to greatly decrease tidal height, the effected change about of height .013 of the previous height. What an affect.
