The US sent aid and assistance to China, much of it beig wasted by BLANK. When General BLANK told Truman that the United States could not affect the results of the Civil SWar, America became less interested in supporting the nationalists.

What could be the answers? Could it be communists for the first blank and macarthur for the second?

I suspect the first blank is Nationalists. You're right about the second one.
