**PsyDAG**, Monday, April 12, 2010 at 1:48pmI assume that the larger cube is made up of 125 (5*5*5) 1x1x1 cubes. You can start at the top with 1 cube, 4 (2^2) cubes, 9 (3^2) cubes... and so on, until you have used all 125. You may have some leftover cubes.
