Name one event during each decade 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, which had an overriding influence on U.S. culture, economy, or governmental policy within that decade.

1950's- Fighting in Korea ends. Red scare and McCarthyism begins. Alaska and Hawaii become U.S. states.

1960's- Vietnam war. Civil rights acts. President Kennedy, and MLK are assassinated. Men land on the moon.

1970's- Nixon resigns. Iran hostage crisis. U.S. invades Cambodia. Women's rights movement advances.

1980's- Space shuttle Challenger explodes. Berlin Wall fell, Cold War ends.

1990's- World Wide Web is launched. Bill Clinton was impeached. Persian Gulf War.
