I am making another poem, and I want to include old age home in there, but what's another name for that. I'm referring to the place where old people are sent off to by their kids.

nursing home

assisted living residence
senior apartment

Please note, though, that many of us oldsters would prefer to live in such a facility rather than live with our kids.

Yes, I understand that. I wish that all children were the same--Loving. Thank you Ms. Sue:-)

My children are all loving.

Nevertheless, I'm an independent person and prefer to live alone. The only way I'd choose to live in an assisted living home was if my mind was shot with dementia. And if that were the case, I certainly DO NOT want to burden my kids. I wouldn't know the difference no matter where I lived.

I think volunteering as we do for this board and for other activities helps keep our minds active and I hope puts off the day when we don't know where we are staying.

Oh, I see, thank you for sharing your deep feelings:-)

Amen, Dr. Bob!

You're welcome, Sara.

The term "old age home" is a commonly used phrase that refers to a facility where elderly individuals can reside and receive care. However, if you're looking for an alternative name, a possible term could be "senior living community" or "retirement community." These terms tend to evoke a more positive connotation, highlighting the idea of older adults choosing to live in a community that caters to their needs, rather than being sent off by their children. You can consider using any of these alternatives in your poem, depending on the tone and message you wish to convey.
