Name the factors, the setting, and the overall emotion of this scene,
The rain was pouring over the city of men, the sun was setting in the far west, its last rays were begging to fade away and dissipate. The little light that remained was weak, nearly as weak as King Atkillmust strength.
He laid upon his back in upon a bed of red velvet, his wrinkled face was very old and his once blue eyes and grown dull and cold, his hair once long and brown, was now frizzed and white splayed across his purple pillow. The king laid there staring at the ceiling, from which a chandelier hung. The few doctors there were had tried to save him.
But they could not, he was too old. Only sixty years old, was, but old man’s disease as it was called, had made him age faster. He was therefore nearly dead. The room was lush and dimly lit, the little candle flames burnt nicely enough to keep the room dim.
At the king’s side there was no one. Only his daughter Atkillra, she was his only heir to the throne of the crusader kingdom. She was still young only nineteen years old, he had another daughter an older one. But she had left many years ago, her name was Agatha and she had gone to live as queen of the Agatheean Realm.
“Atkillra,” the king said weakly he barely managed to raise his hand to her tearstained face, “You must rule well after me,” he paused he had to regain his shaky breath and his hand fell down at his side as he had not the strength to keep is raised.
Atkillra seized her father’s hand and gripped it tightly as if in doing so he would not pass away. As if in doing so, he might live on, or that she might be able to hold him and if he would drift away from her she could forcibly drag him back—but she could not.
Factors: Rainy weather, old and dying king, young heir to the throne, absence of other family members.
Setting: A dimly lit, lush room with a chandelier, a bed of red velvet, and burning candles.
Overall emotion: Sadness, melancholy, and mournfulness. The scene conveys a sense of finality as the old king nears the end of his life. Atkillra's tear-stained face and tight grip on her father's hand show her desperation to hold on to him and her fear of losing him. The rainy weather and weak light add to the somber atmosphere.
