The ratio of boys to girls in Mr. Joiner’s class is 5 to 7. If there are 15 boys in the class, how many total
students are in the class?

Ratio of boys : girls = 5:7 or how about 5x : 7x

so 5x = 15

wouldn't there be 5x + 7x or 12x students ?
