Solve

5x+16 greater than 1 and 2x-21 greater than -17.

5x + 16 > 1

Subtract 16 from both sides.

5x > -15

Divide both sides by 5. (You solve just like an equation, except If you multiply/divide by a *negative* value, then you have to reverse the carat.)

x > -3

Use the same principles to solve the second inequality.
