A developer can buy a plot of land 90-yd x 50-yd for $15,000 or a plot of land 180-yd x 100-yd for $55,000. If all other things are equal, which is the better buy? Why?

90 x 50 = 4500 yd˛

@ $15,000, this is $3.33 / yd˛.

180 x 100 = 18000 yd˛

@ $55,000, this is $3.06 / yd˛

The 180 x 100 is the better buy - cheaper per yd˛
