I have to write a 10 minute play in English on a topic of my choosing. I'm in High School and I need a couple of ideas. I'm pretty good when it comes to writing, it just takes me a while to come up with a topic. I was thinking maybe something funny, dramatic, or a mystery.

Any Ideas??!!??!!

Think of a word that can be used two or more ways..... for instance, "dove".

Then suppose that someone stole it, but everyone is mistaken as to motive, possibility, because they are thinking about the wrong "dove". This could provide all sorts of possiblities for old fashioned slap-stick humor.

Why not write on the frustrations of trying to write this play or completing some other homework assignment?

Whatever you choose, try to pick a topic that is familiar.

I hope this helps.

Of course! I can help you come up with a few ideas for your 10-minute play. Here are three suggestions, one for each genre you mentioned: comedy, drama, and mystery.

1. Comedy: "Tech Support Tango"
Synopsis: In a world where technology has taken over, a brilliantly humorous play unfolds as Jack, an old-school technophobe, desperately seeks help from an eccentric and overly enthusiastic tech support representative named Olive. As Olive tries to explain the simplest of tasks, chaos reigns, leading to unexpected and hilarious consequences.

2. Drama: "Unspoken Truth"
Synopsis: The play follows two lifelong friends, Alex and Rachel, who have always shared everything. However, a heartbreaking incident has led Rachel to distance herself from Alex. As the story unfolds, buried secrets come to light, revealing the true nature of their friendship and the power of forgiveness.

3. Mystery: "The Disappearing Heirloom"
Synopsis: A wealthy family gathers for a special event, only to discover that their treasured family heirloom - a valuable necklace - has vanished without a trace. The play revolves around the investigation conducted by an eccentric detective and the unfolding of unexpected secrets, hidden agendas, and suspenseful twists that reveal the culprit's identity.

To choose the topic that resonates with you the most, consider asking yourself a few questions:
- Which genre are you most comfortable writing in?
- Is there a particular theme or subject matter you find intriguing?
- Are there any personal experiences or issues you'd like to explore?

Once you have chosen the genre and theme, I recommend brainstorming ideas, creating character profiles, and outlining the plot. Remember to keep your play concise and engaging within the 10-minute time frame. Good luck, and enjoy the writing process!
