how do i determine how many people are in a family including mom and dad if 1/2 of family is male children and 1/3 of family is female children? What formula do i use to find my answer?

Let F = the total number of children plus the mother and father.

Let Mc = the number of male children and Fc = the number of female children.

Mc = F/2 and Fc = F/3 from which Fc/Mc = 2/3.

Fc...Mc...plus Mom and Dad
.4....6.............2 = 12
