2 cups of flour = 6 cookies

x cups of flour = 10 cookies

I found out that 3 cookies get 1 cup of flour and each cookie get 1/3 cup . Also 3 1/3 cups equal 10 cookies .

Now i have to write and solve a proportion and i don't know how to do that . Can you please help me ?

2/6 = x/10

Cross multiply.

6x = 20
x = 20/6
x = 3 2/6 = 3 1/3

Thank you !

You're welcome.

Of course! I'd be happy to help you write and solve a proportion based on the given information.

Let's start by assigning variables to the unknown quantities in the problem. Since we want to find the number of cups of flour for 10 cookies, let's use "y" to represent the number of cups of flour.

The given information tells us that 2 cups of flour is equivalent to 6 cookies. Using this, we can set up the following proportion:

2 cups of flour / 6 cookies = y cups of flour / 10 cookies

Now, let's solve the proportion:
Cross-multiply to get rid of the fractions:
2 cups of flour * 10 cookies = 6 cookies * y cups of flour
20 cups of flour = 6y

To isolate "y" on one side of the equation, divide both sides by 6:
20 cups of flour / 6 = 6y / 6
20/6 cups of flour = y

Simplify the fraction:
10/3 cups of flour = y

So, the number of cups of flour needed for 10 cookies is 10/3 cups or 3 1/3 cups of flour.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.
