A 30ft. cable is cut into 2 pieces. One piece is twice as long as the other piece. Find th length of each piece of the cable.

Let x = the length of the shorter cable.

x + 2x = 30
3x = 30
x = ?

X=10; the shorter cable length is 10 ft. Take the 3 and divide it by 3(which is the total length.)
