Can you check the following sentences:
1)Though the family finances were put partly to rights (can you tell me a synonym?), his mother insisted on his working at the factory(or that he should continue working at the factory?)
2)His father rescued him from that fate (can you use spare?), and sent him to a school in London.
3)Oliver was confronted with the bitter realities of slums and factories (is there a synonym for confronted??)

1. Although the family finances were adequate, his mother insisted on his working at the factory.

2. His father saved him from that fate and sent him to a school in London. (No comma needed after "fate"; this isn't a compound sentence.)

3. Oliver encountered the bitter realities of slums and factories.

You should learn to use www.thesaurus.com to find synonyms.
