**Marth**, Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 4:11pmTry manipulating the equations so that all terms are on the left side. You may find that a solution does not exist.

**PsyDAG**, Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 5:50pmx+3y=8

x=4-3y

By substitution, you get:

(4 - 3y) + 3y = 8

Since the y-terms cancel out, there is no solution.

I hope this helps a little more.
