Homework Help: History

Can someone please help me with this question?
What was the significance of the vibrant city culture? The City Culture is around the 1870-1900's.
This is what I have so far: Everything in the world began to change. Technology and industry started to erupt over the world and the old ways were out. This was the causes of many of the conflicts in the 19th Century.
Thanks for the help.
