Using the multi-step Process Writing method, write a (minimum) 500-word essay or short story, or a five-stanza poem using Cause and Effect. If the poem is free verse (non-rhyming), it must be at least 400 words long. (You may also incorporate other methods of development in your writing, but Cause and Effect must be the major method used.)

topic: Develop your journal response on a person who seems ill-suited to his or her job for your Cause and Effect writing assignment.

Journal Entry:
'Do you know anyone who does a job well but who, at first glance, would not seem capable of doing it? Identify the person and his or her job. Explain why he or she would seem incapable of doing that job. Then give examples of how this person does the job well, despite his or her outward appearance and/or personality.'

I know a lady who is one of the best cookds that I have ever met; but the first time I saw her, I did not think that she could cook to save her life. The reason I thought this was because she appeared so different thatn the image I have of a lady that cooks. I would imagine a typical housewife, who only cooked and cleaned all day; someone who would have a messy appearance but would be hardworking. When I saw this lady, she was wearing very nice and clean clothes, she had the most expensive clothing and jewelry on, and she said she mostly stays out of the hosue because she loves to shop. But the day she invited me to her house, I was surprised at all the idfferent food items she prepared; I thought they were store-bought. She even gave out the recipes for all her prepared foods. That's when I realized I was very wrong.

In what way can I write my essay, so that it shows that I am using Cause and Effect?

What is the cause in your essay?

What is the effect of that cause?

Here are some excellent websites about writing cause and effect papers:

Using a graphic organizer and a specific outline will make it much easier for you to organize your thoughts before you start on the rough draft of the body of your paper.

tell me how I should organize the paper.

i guess the cause is = ?
the effect is that = she's a good cook
i'm confuseed

I don't blame you for being confused -- I am too. The cause and effect relationship in your topic is not clear-cut, if applicable at all.

The only cause I can see is the woman's fastidious appearance and her devotion to shopping. The effect of that cause would be your perception that she can't cook.

I suggest you clarify this assignment with your teacher.

Alright, I will

Does it have to be true? How about, this woman was, say, fired from four different restaurants because she cooked using unorthodox methods that her managers did not approve? But then she found herself jobless and despite her reputation started her own very successful restaurant?

I like the (true) story of a chemistry student of mine...lazy, smartmouth, cheater, and superego personality...he asked me what college he should apply to..I told him he was not college material, and why...he was lazy, too full of himself, cheated, and didn't care about anything.

It turned him around, according to him. He sent me a copy of his dissertation and his a copy of his PhD diploma now 12 years later. So he is searching for oil, now on his own, using his own wits.

Nice. Who would have bet money on that?
